Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful are excited for the upcoming 38th anniversary milestone all-female episode. Star Heather Tom, who plays Katie on the soap, is helming the episode as well as writing and starring in it. The story will focus on some of the mothers and daughters on the show, and Tom recently opened up about her special approach to the material.

Some Are Happy, Some Are Sad

Tom sat down with Soaps to discuss her debut directing and writing a B&B episode. She noted that the episode will be centered around two pairs that have been going through rather dramatic times lately: Taylor (Rebecca Budig) and her daughter Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and her daughter Hope (Annika Noelle).

Coming off of the storyline in which Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) stole Forrester Creations, wrestled with his conscience, and gave it back, Tom explained, “We have the juxtaposition between Taylor and Steffy, and they’re in this euphoric moment. Then we juxtapose that with Hope and Brooke, who are in this extreme moment of turmoil.”

It’s Emotional and Dramatic

Steffy and Taylor are excited that the company is back in Forrester hands, while Brooke and Hope — who disagreed with each other when Hope sided with Carter for the initial takeover — have crashed and burned. Hope may be out of a job with her fashion line tossed by the wayside while Brooke felt that Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) had kicked her to the curb without hearing her out. It’s a tense time for The Logans.

Of the episode, Tom remarked, “It’s emotional, it’s dramatic. I think it was shot really beautifully. It came together exactly the way I wanted it to.” Tom feels that fans of the show will truly love the episode because she knows the soap opera genre inside and out, as well as all of the B&B characters. “I also know what they like to say and what they don’t like to say. I’m hoping that comes through,” she added.
