Tiger Lily Taylor, a star of “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days,” has expressed her displeasure with Van Gbic’s
comments suggesting that she suffers from Stockholm syndrome in her marriage to 23-year-old Adnan Abdil. At 41
years old, Tiger Lily is married to Adnan, a Muslim man from Jordan who proposed to her on their first day together,
wishing to marry her so they could spend time in his country while adhering to his cultural traditions.
Following their marriage, Tiger Lily began to follow the expectations that Adnan had for her as his wife, although she initially protested against some of these rules. Over time, she grew to accept what he desired from her, despite their significant age difference. While she has not publicly revealed whether she has converted to Islam, her recent Instagram photos suggest she might have embraced a more conservative style. However, it’s also possible that her clothing choices are simply a fashion statement and not a result of pressure from Adnan.
Many “90 Day Fiancé” cast members have speculated that Tiger Lily exhibits signs of Stockholm syndrome due to her seemingly accepting behavior regarding Adnan’s control over certain aspects of their relationship. Vanya observed that Tiger Lily had previously been in a controlling marriage and noted that her decision to marry Adnan on their first day of meeting was concerning. During a conversation that Vanya attempted to have with Tiger Lily, Adnan interrupted, likely to prevent her from speaking negatively about him. He remarked that Tiger Lily wouldn’t wear revealing clothes like Vanya, as she dressed solely for him and could wear different outfits at home.
Tiger Lily claimed that Adnan refrains from talking to other women when she is not present, and similarly, she distances herself from conversations when he is around. Vanya’s commentary led to some casting doubt on the nature of Tiger Lily’s relationship with Adnan, suggesting that it resembled a classic case of Stockholm syndrome. In response to Vanya’s remarks, Tiger Lily asserted, “I don’t have Stockholm syndrome,” and after remaining quiet during the four-part tell-all, she decided to address the cameras as they wrapped up filming.
She clarified that Adnan is the extroverted one in their relationship while she is more reserved. Tiger Lily’s rebuttal to Vanya is noteworthy, particularly because Stockholm syndrome is generally defined as an emotional bond that develops between a victim of abuse and their abuser. This condition can manifest in various scenarios, including but not limited to child abuse and relationship abuse. It is important to recognize that Tiger Lily does not appear to be a victim of abuse or captivity in her marriage. Consequently, Vanya’s use of the term “Stockholm syndrome” might have been inappropriate or too casually applied. However, given Tiger Lily’s significant changes to accommodate Adnan, critics may continue to speculate that she is under his influence.
