Chris Combs from “1,000-lb Sisters” has undergone a remarkable transformation since the reality show’s debut in
January 2020. Initially focused on the journey of Amy and Tammy Slaton, two sisters from Kentucky striving to
improve their lives through bariatric surgery, the series has evolved over six seasons to highlight Chris’s own
inspirational story. Faced with his weight of 450 pounds, Chris was motivated to change his life for his wife, Brittany, and his children and grandchildren.
With support from his family, particularly his sisters, Chris embarked on a wellness journey that ultimately led to his approval for bariatric surgery after a decade of effort. Following his surgery, Chris lost around 150 pounds relatively quickly. However, he encountered challenges with loose skin that made movement and exercise difficult. In season 6, he expressed his frustrations humorously, noting that he felt like a “flying squirrel.”
At the urging of Dr. Eric Smith, Chris worked hard to shed an additional 50 pounds to qualify for skin removal surgery. His determination paid off, as viewers saw him complete a 5K run, tackle an obstacle course, and explore London with his siblings. After finally receiving approval for skin removal surgery, he declared it “the best journey that I’ve ever decided to take,” emphasizing the positive impact on his life and health. He estimated these changes could extend his life by 15 to 20 years, allowing him to engage more with his family.
As of now, Chris is enjoying life after his surgery, frequently sharing joyful moments with his grandchildren on social media. His presence on “1,000-lb Sisters” has grown, with fans appreciating his cheerful demeanor and protective nature. He has supported Amy during her emotional divorce from Michael Halterman and has welcomed Tammy during her own tumultuous times.
Outside of the show, Chris has ventured into personalized video messages through Cameo, where he charges $50 for custom greetings, successfully establishing himself as a beloved public figure. His five-star rating reflects customer satisfaction with his messages. Additionally, he is making appearances at fan conventions, including his debut at Vet City Con, garnering excitement from fans who appreciate his sunny disposition amidst the drama surrounding the Slaton sisters.
