Amanda Halterman, a star of “1,000-Lb Sisters,” is certainly not one to shy away from confrontation. Recently, she
expressed her displeasure in a very public way, as an unwitting troll faced the full force of her wrath. The 44-year-old
bus driver and mother of four has become a fan favorite on the reality series, which primarily focuses on her younger
sisters, 38-year-old Tammy Slayton and 37-year-old Annie Slayton. While Amanda didn’t have much screen time in the early seasons, she gained more visibility in Season 6, allowing her to come into her own alongside her more famous siblings.
The Slaton family stands out for its close-knit dynamics, living together in Kentucky and sharing a strong bond. They actively spend their free time as a unit and are committed to their weight loss journey, having all undergone bariatric surgery. Since the premiere of “1,000-Lb Sisters” Season 6, each sibling has experienced significant weight loss. Amanda herself had revision bariatric surgery in March 2023, which led to some weight loss; however, she hit a plateau following a knee injury that sidelined her.
As with any close family, tensions can arise. This was evident when Amanda and Tammy nearly came to blows during Season 6. Tammy was living in a house owned by Amanda and accused her sister of being a negligent homeowner, leading to a heated family meeting. Following a fierce argument, Tammy declared Amanda “dead to her,” and the two did not communicate for several months. Eventually, their bond was mended during a family dinner orchestrated by Annie, where they were encouraged to reconcile.
Despite their family squabbles, Amanda has proven that she will fiercely defend her sisters against outside criticism. Recently, she took to Instagram to respond to a troll who insulted Tammy by calling her a “clown.” Amanda made it abundantly clear that she would not stand for anyone disrespecting her family, showcasing her loyalty and protective nature toward her siblings.
