Wings Hauser, best known for his roles as Greg Foster on The Young and the Restless and Ramrod in the motion picture, Vice Squad has died at the age of 77. According to his daughter, Bright Hauser, Wings passed away at his home in Santa Monica, California on Saturday March 15th after a long battle with COPD.

In speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Bright made mention that her father was using an oxygen tank to help him breathe in recent months. Wings is also father to Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser and the husband to Cali Lili Hauser.

As Y&R fans know, the irony of Hauser’s passing comes on the news of James Houghton’s death a few weeks ago. Houghton played the original Greg Foster from 1973-1976 and once again in 2003, The character of Greg is the brother of Dr. Snapper Foster first played by William Gray Espy and then David Hasselhoff.

Wings Hauser took over the role and was on contract with the CBS soap opera from 1977-1981, and came back to the show in 2010 reprising his part. In story, Greg comes home to Genoa City when his mother Liz Foster (Julianna McCarthy) became sick and later passes away.

Taking to her Instagram to share the news of her husband’s passing, Cali Lili Hauser wrote,”Wings Hauser’s one of a kind, legendary career spanned 58 years in movies, tv & music working alongside many of the greatest artists in the industry and earning their respect. His recent and upcoming releases along with his living wish is handing the torch to the love of his life, Cali, requesting she continue the work embodying their partnership, their love story and honoring his legacy.”

In addition to Y&R, Wings appeared throughout his career on TV series including :Monk, Murder, She Wrote to Beverly Hills, 90210, Magnum, P.I., The Fall Guy, Perry Mason, Roseanne, Beverly Hills 90210, Command Five, and Criminal Minds, to name just a few.  In feature films, he wrote the story for the film Uncommon Valor and appeared in Hear No Evil, A Soldier’s Story, Tough Guys Don’t Dance and Jo Jo Dancer, and Your Life Is Calling.

Wings was born in Hollywood to Academy Award winning writer, director, producer Dwight A. Hauser his loving mother Geraldine T. Hauser. Survivors include his third wife, Cali, his children Bright and Cole, sisters, Helena and Marcia; and grandchildren, Hutchinson, Holden, Ryland, Colt and Steely Rose.
